Bert Mortimer

I have ten years of experience working in mental health and recovery. I have worked in settings that include secure hospitals, NHS, forensic, community rehabilitation and the local authority. I can utilise numerous psychotherapy approaches in my integrative counselling style to help individuals overcome challenges with mental health and wellbeing. My approaches include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and humanistic counselling. I ensure a client led approach to help individuals identify their aims and goals from therapy working together in collaboration.

I started my journey ten years ago working with prison leavers experiencing mental health and substance abuse challenges. I also worked as a mental health social worker serving a local south London borough. I now practice in counselling psychology and psychotherapy. My qualifications include BA Social work, a post graduate certificate in counselling psychology and a masters in psychology. I am currently studying towards a doctorate in counselling psychology and psychotherapy. I hold graduate membership with the British Psychological Society as well as being registered with Social Work England and the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association.

My specialities include counselling and psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, relationships difficulties, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), treatment of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and motivational counselling to help individuals begin a journey towards recovery and wellbeing (Motivational Interviewing). I provide general psychotherapy for individuals who feel they are struggling with mental health diagnosis, lifestyle concerns and relationship challenges.

As a Londoner I have experience in working with a range of diverse individuals and I welcome those from all backgrounds and identities. Feel free to leave a message below to arrange an assessment or for a general enquiry.
